Need a Closer Walk with Jesus?

Almost a year ago, I began an adventure with a group of SABC folks. We met every Sunday afternoon, except for a brief Christmas break, for twenty-six weeks to learn how to live as disciples of Jesus.Near the end of the class, I asked group members to share what the Discipleship Essentials experience meant to them.

Here are a few excerpts from what they wrote:

DE taught me what it means to be a disciple, how to disciple others, and how to put God’s Word into action.

Victoria Cole

I’ve learned to be more intentional in my daily study and Bible reading.

William Tolar

There was a sense of trust and accountability that encouraged attendance, participation, and freedom to share where we are on our spiritual journey.

Beth Tolar

DE has revitalized my prayer and Bible study time and moved me forward as nothing has in a long time.

Susan Cockfield

DE was so much more than taking a course and showing up. We developed relationships and grew in our faith together.

Mike Williams

I’m much more aware of who I can be as a disciple and disciple-maker for Christ.

Nancy Burgess

DE is one of the most life-changing investments I’ve made in the spiritual lives of others.

Ronald D. Vaughan

Picture yourself sharing the same kind of grateful testimony a few months from now. Picture yourself in a closer daily walk with Jesus. I will lead another Discipleship Essentials group beginning August 20. My group will meet on Sunday afternoons from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in our conference room. Some of our DE graduates will also lead groups this fall. I will share information about group leaders and meeting times as they are finalized. You may sign up for a DE group at our Welcome Center or by contacting our church office. Spiritual growth doesn’t come by trying harder, but by training wiser. Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen your walk with Christ.
